EP PUTS ONE IN THE ‘W’ COLUMN

Rebounding from a tough defeat at the hands on an ultra-talented Hayti squad to open the season, East Prairie make the long trek up I-55 to face an improving Grandview squad. Expectations have risen for the Eagle program and were met with a solid 29-14 victory to even the season mark at 1-1.

A 15-play game opening drive by Grandview gave those Eagles a 7-0 lead. EP answered right back with a quick four-play strike capped by sophomore Brad Beck’s 23-yard dash. Grandview would score their last points of the night with a minute left in the first period as the youthful Eagles were getting their road legs under them trailing 14-7.

EP’s response was a Beck INT return for a TD and a 14-13 score following a rare PAT miss; The Eagles would take the lead for good following a Brad Smith interception that set up Beck for his third score of the night and a 19-14 EP lead.

Frankie Nave ended the game’s scoring on the first drive in the second half bolting in from 27-yards out and followed with the PAT for the final 29-14 margin….

Full game story will appear this weekend on the Kp Chronicle….
