Great weather for tonite’s football…Still excited for East Prairie with the matchup against Kennett led by EPHS alum Corey Adkisson. Yeah, it’s about wins and losses but there’s more to Sport than all that.

Lessons are learned. Adversity reveals character. All those cliché’s and more but it’s true sometimes. Tonite, when Eagle fans turn out in full support of their young team, take a moment to scan the sidelines….

On your side, Ep head coach Jason Aycock; OC Gary Scott; James Hodges, Ben Walters and Chad Jamerson…All wore Eagles jerseys in their high school days. That would be difficult to match by any program but none in SEMO have that amount of home-grown talent/leaders on their sidelines.

It’s something East Prairie fans can be proud of….

Game pick: Eagles 22 Indians 20…but again, it’s about more than the score…

NMCC       Charleston

This is a telling game for the Blue Jays. At 1-2 overall, but 1-0 in the SEMO Central, Charleston can go a long ways in proving that first week win at Metz Cherry Stadium was more than just a blip…; winning on the road is difficult, yes; but NMCC is on a down cycle and the Jays have plenty of play makers to cash in some scores.

The real test will come on the defensive side of the ball….NMCC has scored only 6 points on the whole season (0-3); but those losses have been to Cape Central 41-6; Poplar Bluff 20-0 and 4A state ranked Farmington 60-0. A lot of teams would be 0-3 with that early season slate…

I’ve gotten some heat for picking against the Jays; so I’ll change my pick, to appease the reading audience…NEW GAME PICK

C’town 28    NMCC   20

Now, Jamaul Gray, Maurice Moore, Cole Byford….go out and make me look smart.

MORE picks sure to go wrong: C’ville over Hayti – matchup of two of the top teams in SEMO; this is a rival game with intensity but the Tigers have too much firepower for the Indians to contain for four quarters…; Portageville over Malden – a SEMO South contest; Malden was thought to be stronger this year but the Bulldogs got plenty of offensive weapons; Cape Central over Jackson – it wasn’t so long ago that this was a slam dunk pick for the Indians; but the Tigers, coming off last year’s success and the new home field have some momentum going on; Chaffee over St. Vincent – the Red Devils can compete with any 1A school; Dexter over Scott City – Bearcats back to fielding good teams; Poplar Bluff over Sikeston – just don’t see the Bulldogs having all that much this year; may be wrong but feel the Mules put one in the W’ column...Farmington over North County.
